Joanna Silver has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Joanna is currently working as the Head of Sustainable Finance at Westpac New Zealand Limited since July 2019. Prior to this, they held the position of Chair - Syndicate 143 at The CEO Institute from January 2019 to May 2020.

From December 2012 to June 2019, Joanna was the Director of Stitchbird Advisory Ltd, where they worked with dynamic, globally-connected companies to drive economic success and contribute to New Zealand's well-being.

Before that, they served as the Director of Environmental Markets at IHS Markit from July 2009 to September 2012. Joanna played a key role in the acquisition of TZ1 Limited, an NZX subsidiary, by IHS Markit Limited.

During this time, they held various roles including Head of Markets - TZ1 Limited and Senior Solicitor and Strategy Business Leader. Their achievements include positioning NZX to create and sell a US$40 million asset, establishing TZ1 as a leading provider of environmental markets registry services, and assisting in the successful integration of two major acquisitions.

Prior to their roles at NZX, Joanna worked as a Senior Solicitor at BNY Mellon from August 2003 to September 2004 and at Aon Hewitt from August 2001 to August 2003.

Their early career includes their role as a Solicitor at the Ministry of Health New Zealand from December 1996 to June 2001.

Joanna Silver attended the University of Cambridge in 2023, where they completed the Prince of Wales Business & Sustainability Programme, an executive-level sustainability leadership course. Joanna completed their secondary education at Wellington Girls College from 1987 to 1991.
