Susan M. Byrne, the founder of Westwood, has served on the Board of Directors of Westwood since its inception in December 2001. Ms. Byrne is currently vice chairman and was previously chairman of the Board from December 2001 to April 2015. She has served as director of Global Initiatives since February 2012, co-chief investment officer from January 2011 to February 2012, a chief investment officer of Westwood from January 2006 to January 2011, and as a chief executive officer from December 2001 to December 2005. Ms. Byrne is the founder of Westwood Management and has served as its chairman of the Board since 1983, as chief investment officer from 1983 to February 2012, as a chief executive officer from 1983 to 2005, and as president from 1983 to 2002. She served as a director of Westwood Trust from 1996 to 1999. She has previously served as a member of the board of Presbyterian Communities and Services Foundation, a member of the board of the University of Texas Investment Management Company, and as a member of the board of trustees for the City of Dallas Employees Retirement Fund.
As the founder and vice chairman of the Board of the Company and as a result of her tenure with the Company and its subsidiaries for over 30 years, Ms. Byrne brings extensive knowledge of and experience with the Company and its business as well as valuable leadership and management experience. Ms. Byrne has deep knowledge of the Company’s operations, strategies, and competitive environment as well as the asset management industry as a whole. With over 40 years of experience in the investment management business, Ms. Byrne is uniquely qualified to provide insight to the Board on the Company’s investment management strategies and operations. As a board member of several private organizations, Ms. Byrne also brings valuable experience in governance matters.
