Kevin Smith brings over 20 years of experience to visual effects supervision.
Kevin was VFX Supervisor on Godzilla vs. Kong, planned for 2021 release, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. For Mortal Engines (2018) he supervised the creation of the CG environment Shan Guo, the third act’s mountain city location, along with sequences in the final battle. A Supervisor on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) he was instrumental in the creation of Planet Hollow.
For Krampus (2015), Kevin was the onset VFX Supervisor, working directly with the client from planning and pre-production through to final realization and delivery. He was also the second-unit on-location VFX Supervisor on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) and Sequence Supervisor on the subsequent two films.
Kevin joined Wētā FX for Academy Award-winning The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), contributing to the look development of Gollum. He was then 3D Sequence Lead on The Two Towers (2002), before working at Sony Pictures Imageworks on The Matrix Revolutions (2003), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), and Beowulf (2007). Returning to Wētā, he was CG Supervisor on Director James Cameron’s game-changer Avatar (2009).
