Margherita Romanelli is an experienced professional currently serving as the Coordinator of the European Programme Unit at WeWorld Onlus since September 2019. In this role, Margherita oversees the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of European programmes focusing on Global Citizenship, Migration, Climate Justice, and Human Rights. Previously, Margherita held the position of Coordinator of the Policy, Advocacy, Partnership, and Evaluation Unit at WeWorld Onlus, addressing issues related to education, social and gender equality, and environmental protection. Margherita's prior experience includes serving as an adjunct professor at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and as Programme Coordinator at GVC Italia, where responsibilities ranged from project management in international cooperation to policy advising. With a Master's degree in Poverty Reduction from SOAS University of London and another in Economics from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Margherita brings a strong academic background to the field.

WeWorld Onlus
WeWorld Onlus is a non-profit non-governmental organisation for development cooperation, recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; we are independent, non-denominational and apolitical. Established in Milan in 1999, WeWorld Onlus works in Italy, Asia, Africa and Latin America to support children, women and local communities in the fight against poverty and inequality and to promote sustainable development. WeWorld Onlus fosters a culture of mutual support, social commitment, and respect for human rights. In looking to achieving long-term integrated development, we choose to operate in areas with a high poverty index. There, in working with local partners in various arenas at the same time – health, education, food safety, children’s and women’s rights, environmental sustainability, and community engagement – we aim to lay solid foundations for real, lasting community development. WeWorld Onlus collaborates with a network of other civil-society organisations to give the most vulnerable people a voice on the Italian and international political agenda, and we are involved in the main networks protecting children’s and women’s rights.
