Ned Waltz has over 25 years of experience in structural wood product research and engineering. Currently serving as Senior Engineering Manager for Product Evaluation and Performance at Weyerhaeuser since October 1998, Ned oversees codes and standards development, leads testing for components and assemblies, and evaluates product and process changes. Prior roles at Weyerhaeuser include Senior Engineer and Corporate Engineer/Engineering Laboratory Manager, with responsibilities focused on structural performance and technical leadership. Early career experience includes work as a Research Assistant at Oregon State University and as an Engineer/Senior Engineer at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc., where forensic investigations into building performance were conducted. Ned holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Forest Science, as well as a Master of Science in Structural Engineering/Wood Science from Oregon State University.
