Andrea Melendez

Andrea Melendez is a seasoned photojournalist and multimedia specialist with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as a Staff Photojournalist and multimedia specialist at WGCU Public Media since October 2022, Melendez has a long tenure with Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK, starting in June 1998. Additional roles include Staff Photographer/Multimedia Specialist at The News-Press Media Group since April 2015 and Staff Photographer/Multimedia Specialist at The Des Moines Register from November 2000 to April 2015. Melendez began the career as a Staff Photojournalist at the Democrat and Chronicle from June 1998 to November 2000. Melendez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Journalism from Iowa State University, earned between 1993 and 1998.
