Mike Avery has extensive experience in management across various sectors, including local government, community services, and disability support. Currently serving as the Manager of Resource Consents at Whakatāne District Council since April 2020, Mike previously held significant roles at genU, where responsibilities included overseeing individual support services for disability and aged care clients. Prior to that, Mike managed disability services for the South West region of Victoria and served as Director of Community & Environmental Services at Stratford District Council, focusing on regulatory and community management. Early career experiences include managing a therapeutic community for young men at Hebron House and working as an Environmental Health Officer at Hamilton City Council. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from The University of Waikato.
