Steve Mazik

Steve was born in Chicago, Illinois, and studied Graphic Design at Drexel University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in college, Steve interned with J. Walter Thompson and after graduating, worked there full-time becoming their new business art director. Steve's next opportunity was at TeamWorks Media where he was employed as art director and head of the design department where he established their art studio. From there Steve went on to freelancing at various Chicago advertising and creative agencies before founding what2design in 2007 with Dave Abrahamsen.

Steve has over 20 years of experience in the creative industry. His wide-ranging expertise includes print design, package design and overall branding. Steve has developed various corporate identities and collateral materials including booklets, brochures, advertisements, posters, packaging, environmental graphics and promotional materials for clients such as 2 Gingers, State Farm, Allstate, Guardian Insurance, Blackberry, Motorola, Kenmore, Illinois Tourism, Swingline, Converse, JELL-O, Mac & Cheese, Nestlé, Cool Whip, Lettuce Entertain You, Blue Plate Catering, DePaul University, Chicago Bears, Chicago Fire, Harlem Globetrotters, Joffrey Ballet and Comcast as well as many start up companies.

Off the clock, Steve enjoys spending time with his wonderful family, listening to records, watching his beloved but beleaguered Cubs and Bears, or sneaking off for a tiki drink.
