Ben Newton Oam Ply

Ben Newton OAM PLY is an accomplished coach and accessibility adviser with extensive experience in wheelchair rugby and public transport accessibility. Currently serving as the QLD Head Coach and State Manager at Wheelchair Rugby Australia since January 2025, Newton also holds the position of Assistant Coach for the Australian Steelers national development program. Previously, from August 2022 to December 2024, Newton was the QLD High Performance and Development Coach for Paralympics Australia. With a strong background in accessibility at Queensland Rail between September 2011 and July 2022, Newton led strategies for compliance with disability legislation and promoted improved customer experiences. As a former member of the Australian Steelers, Newton achieved gold at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Southern Cross University, a Diploma in Access Consulting from Access Institute, and a Certificate IV in Business from the Customer Service Institute of Australia.
