Joey Wong

Joey Wong's work experience begins in 2004 as a Facilities Engineer co-op student at Burlington Resources, where they worked on various projects related to new-drill tie-ins, compression, and regulatory/licensing. They then moved on to work as a Petroleum Engineer/Well Operator at Provident Energy Ltd., managing petroleum engineering projects and studies, including reservoir engineering, recompletion programs, and compressor optimization. During this time, Joey also had a 4-month term as a field operator.

In 2007, Joey became a Project Engineer at Suncor, specifically working on the Fort Hills oilsands project and facilitating project reviews. They then joined Apache Corporation in 2008 as a Production Engineer, responsible for several oil and gas fields in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. In this role, they worked on various projects related to artificial lift design, completion design, wellwork, facilities projects, and waterflood/EOR management.

In 2014, Joey joined Whitecap Resources Inc. as an Operations Engineer before moving up to Manager, West Central Alberta Business Unit in 2018. Their responsibilities included coordinating a multi-disciplinary asset team and establishing production and financial targets. They later became Director, Central Alberta Business Unit in 2021 and currently hold the position of Vice President, West Division, leading a team in the management and development of the West Division, focusing on initiatives such as operational execution, capital investments, and production and reserve management.

Joey Wong pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Co-op from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta from 2002 to 2007.
