Amy Nelson

Amy Nelson serves as the Director of Legal Services at Whitman-Walker Health since 2008, overseeing a legal team dedicated to providing free legal support to marginalized communities, particularly focusing on LGBTQ and HIV rights. Nelson's legal practice encompasses direct representation in immigration, employment, disability, elder law, and transgender issues. Additionally, roles include Vice Chair of the Lambda Alumni Association at The George Washington University Law School, Founding Board Member of May Is All About Trans, Steering Committee Member of the DC Consortium of Legal Services Providers, and LGBTQ and Immigrant Rights Representative on the Advisory Board on Street Harassment at the DC Office of Human Rights. Past experiences include teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center and various lawyer positions at prominent law firms. Nelson holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School and a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University.
