Dyeemah Simmons

Dyeemah Simmons is a seasoned professional in the field of art education and community engagement, currently serving as the Director of Social Impact at the Whitney Museum of American Art since September 2015. With a rich background in various roles at the museum, including Director of Access and Community Programs and Coordinator of Teen Programs, Dyeemah also contributes as an Adjunct Instructor at The City College of New York. Active in the New York City Museum Educators Roundtable as a Book Club Coordinator since August 2020, Dyeemah’s earlier experiences include positions as Head Art Teacher at Rainbow Camp and Art Fellow at Anatolia College, where responsibilities encompassed curriculum development, lesson planning, and student mentorship. Educational credentials consist of a Master of Arts in Art Education from The City College of New York and a Bachelor's degree from Oberlin College in English Language and Literature and Studio Art.
