Jane Carey

Director, Community And Government Affairs at Whitney Museum of American Art

Jane Carey has had an extensive work experience in government affairs and community relations. Jane started their career as a Graduate Scholar for New York State Assemblyman Richard Brodsky in 2009. From there, they became the Chief of Staff for New York State Assemblyman Rory Lancman from August 2009 to January 2012. Jane then moved on to become the Chief of Staff for New York City Councilman David Greenfield from January 2012 to January 2015.

In 2015, they joined the Whitney Museum of American Art as a Community Affairs Manager and held that position until January 2020. Jane then advanced to the role of Senior Officer, Community and Government Affairs, which they held until July 2022. Currently, they are the Director of Community and Government Affairs at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The exact dates of their current role are unspecified.

Jane Carey earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government, as well as French Languages and Literature from the University of Maryland. Jane later pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science from The New School, completing it between 2006 and 2008.
