Benjamin Smith

Benjamin Smith has a diverse work experience in finance and planning roles. Benjamin most recently served as the Director of Financial Planning, Analysis & Treasury at WHYY. In this role, they executed financial planning processes, designed and executed treasury strategies, and supported programming divisions with reporting and decision-making.

Prior to WHYY, Benjamin worked at GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group) as a Senior Manager, Finance. Here, they supported the development of budget models, collaborated with various teams to develop hiring strategies, and designed and tracked global KPI scorecards.

Earlier in their career, Benjamin worked at Vistra Energy, where they held roles as a Sr. Financial Planning Analyst for Luminant, the largest generator of electricity in Texas, and as a Financial Analyst for TXU Energy, one of the largest retail electricity providers in Texas. In these roles, they focused on strategic planning, external reporting, corporate restructuring support, and financial modeling for M&A activity.

Benjamin Smith's education history includes earning a Master of Finance degree with a specialization in Energy from Tulane University - A.B. Freeman School of Business. Benjamin completed this degree from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Management with a focus on Finance from the same institution, which they pursued from 2006 to 2010. In addition, in 2009, Benjamin briefly attended FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown.
