Lisa Wilk

Lisa Wilk has a diverse work experience in the field of media education and journalism. Lisa started their career as a reporter at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, where they produced stories for the organization's interactive website. Later, they worked as a volunteer staff at Prime Movers, assisting students and teachers in journalism clubs. Lisa then became a student teacher at the Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, where they co-taught video journalism and narrative filmmaking courses, as well as history classes.

In 2011, Lisa joined Temple University, first as a freelance photographer/videographer and later as an adjunct professor, teaching the Journalism course and assisting with a news website. Lisa also served as an assistant director for the Temple University High School Journalism Summer Workshop, teaching students multimedia storytelling skills. During their time at Temple University, Lisa was involved in various teaching and photography-related roles.

In 2013, Lisa joined WHYY as a community media instructor, teaching audio/video production and editing courses to middle and high school students, adults, and teachers. Lisa later took on managerial positions, becoming the manager and then the director of school partnerships. In these roles, Lisa collaborated with schools, funders, and evaluators for the Media Labs project, which aimed to provide media instruction and equipment to underserved schools. Lisa built curriculum and led professional development courses for teachers.

In 2021, Lisa became a member of the board of advisors for FAB YOUTH PHILLY, a position they held for two years.

Most recently, Lisa has been an adjunct professor at Temple University, starting in 2023. As an adjunct professor, they continue to contribute their expertise in journalism and media education.

Lisa Wilk attended Truman High School from 2003 to 2007, during which no specific degree or field of study was mentioned. Lisa then pursued their higher education at Temple University Klein College of Media and Communication from 2007 to 2011, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photojournalism. Following this, they enrolled at Temple University College of Education and Human Development from 2009 to 2012, completing a Master of Education degree in Secondary Education Social Studies.
