Dr. Hao-Lin Chen is a Ph.D. in Chemistry graduated from Indiana University. He was the Deputy Program Leader, Laser Science and Technology of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Executive Director of the Center for Optoelectronic Nanostructured Semiconductor Technologies at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Chen is the Winner of three R&D 100 Awards (1995- development of Sealed Tube Electron Beam Gun for Material Processing; 2001- development of Lasershot Marking System; 2003- development of Lasershot Precision Forming System). He is also the Winner of the US Federal Laboratory Consortium Award (1997) for Excellence in Technology Transfer and two International Merit Awards (2002 &2004) for excellence in Technical Publications. Dr. Chen published 66 original papers in scientific journals and patents in areas of molecular energy transfer, lasers, laser kinetics, electron beam, and laser processing of materials. He is a co-author of the book “Laser Spectroscopy and Its Applications”. His most recent patent in the laser peening area is on “Laser Peening for Reducing Hydrogen Embrittlement”. (US patent 11/400,618 filed on April 6, 2006). He is currently a Member of the Technical Committee at Concentrated Solar Power Technology Equipment Cooperative Innovation Center at Gansu, China.
