Volunteer at Women In Distress

Stephanie Cohen is an experienced Registered Nurse currently working as an independent contractor with Schwartz Family Home Care since May 2011, conducting assessments and follow-up visits for senior patients. In addition, Stephanie has been actively involved with the American Cancer Society as a Community Outreach Volunteer since January 2011, where efforts have led to increased patient enrollment in The Cancer Resource Network. Stephanie also serves as Community Relations chair for the American Business Women Association networking group and participates in initiatives for Women In Distress of Broward County, Inc. Notably, previous roles include RN Community Outreach Liaison at Jewish Tradition Home Care, where relationship building and community education were key, as well as nursing and case management positions at Holy-Cross Hospital and Kemper National Insurance. Stephanie holds a BSN in Nursing from Northeastern University and continues to pursue education at Broward College.

Women In Distress is the only nationally accredited, state-certified, full service domestic violence center serving Broward County, Florida. Our mission is to stop domestic violence abuse for everyone through intervention, education and advocacy.We strive to accomplish this mission through a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter program, individual counseling, support groups and professional trainings which are aimed at educating the community on domestic violence. Our confidential services are offered free of charge to victims of domestic violence no matter their age, gender, race or socio-economic status.
