Lane Becker is the Senior Director of Earned Revenue at the Wikimedia Foundation. Lane has extensive experience in the public and private sector, including with the U.S. federal government.
Becker started their career at the Institute for the Future, a think tank focused on research and consulting in the area of foresight and futures studies. Lane then went on to work at Dcode, a technology incubator and startup accelerator, where they helped early-stage companies grow and scale their businesses.
In September 2015, Becker joined the General Services Administration (GSA) as the Program Lead for 10x Investments, a program that provides funding for internal projects with the potential to scale across the federal government or significantly improve how the government builds technology. Becker was responsible for developing the 10x team, setting the program's strategic direction, overseeing project execution, and managing budgets.
Under Becker's leadership, 10x Investments has been successful in supporting the creation of a number of successful government-wide products and services, including the U.S. Web Design System. In their current role as Senior Director of Earned Revenue at the Wikimedia Foundation, Becker is responsible for generating revenue to support the Foundation's mission of providing free and open access to knowledge.
Lane Becker has a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts - Plan II from the University of Texas at Austin.
Lane Becker reports to Lisa Seitz-Gruwell, Chief Advancement Officer. They are on a team with Jessica Robell - Director of Fundraising Operations, Lauren De Lench - Senior Technical Program Manager, and Amal Ramadan - Senior Community Relations Specialist.
