Lead Research Engineer at Wildcat Discovery Technologies

Chao Shen has a wide range of work experience. From 2014 to 2019, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate and a Principal Research Engineer, Project Lead at Florida State University and MaxPower Inc. respectively. While at Florida State University, they conducted extensive research on the development of high energy density Li-S and Li-air batteries. Theirrole at MaxPower Inc. included electrolyte and electrode development and cell formation optimization for high-energy and high-power lithium metal batteries, as well as cathode formulation and customized prototype design for liquid ammonia reserve batteries. Chao also had experience in cell development and testing for electrochemical validation, troubleshooting, and quality control. Prior to this, they were a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at Clemson University from 2013 to 2014, where they worked as a teaching assistant for two undergraduate courses in the ECE department and conducted research on microwave sensor design and application for dielectric measurement. Currently, they are a Lead Research Engineer at Wildcat Discovery Technologies.

Chao Shen began their education in 2008 at Fudan University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2013. Chao then spent one year at Clemson University in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In 2014, they moved to Florida State University to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which they completed in 2018. During their studies at Fudan University, they also spent one year at National Tsing Hua University in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
