Embedded Software Engineer at Wildlife Computers

Ethan Slattery has worked in a variety of roles since 2002. Ethan began their career as a Reconnaissance Marine for the United States Marine Corps, where they performed duties as a point man, scout sniper, and vehicle driver for a reconnaissance team during several tours to The Middle East and SE Asia. From 2010 to 2014, they worked as a Digital Collections Instructor for Silverback 7, where they developed and executed customized curriculum for team and company pre-deployment training. Ethan then worked as an Engineering Intern for Swift Engineering, where they performed design work in Solidworks and soldered, tested, and troubleshot circuit boards designed in-house. In 2015, they worked as a Field Research Assistant for Memorial University of Newfoundland, where they conducted GeoLocator tag retrieval on Crested Auklets and Parakeet Auklets. From 2016 to 2017, they worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, San Diego, where they developed an underwater remote sensing platform to assist in the conservation of the Vaquita. In 2017 and 2018, they worked as an Embedded Developer (intern) and Embedded Software Engineer for Wildlife Computers. Additionally, in 2018 they worked as a Research Intern for Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI).

Ethan Slattery has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz, which they earned between 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, they attended Saddleback College between 2014 and 2016, studying Computer Science and Engineering. Ethan also holds certifications in Master Diver from PADI (obtained in 2007), Wilderness First Aid from NOLS Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) (obtained in 2014), Basic Keelboat Operation from American Sailing Association, and USPA B-License from U.S. Parachute Association (USPA).
