Ekena Rangel Pinagé is currently an Ecological Integrity Research Specialist at the Wildlife Conservation Society, serving since September 2023. Previously, Ekena held the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at Oregon State University from August 2021 to September 2023, working on a NASA-funded project that analyzed agricultural expansion and forest degradation in Brazil. Ekena's extensive experience includes roles such as Lidar Data Consultant for the U.S. Forest Service, PhD Graduate Student in Forestry and Remote Sensing at the University of Technology Sydney, Research Fellow at Embrapa, Remote Sensing Specialist at the Brazilian Forest Service, and Geographic Information Systems Analyst at WWF-Brasil. Ekena's educational background includes two PhDs in Forest Sciences and Remote Sensing and Forestry, as well as a Master’s degree and a Bachelor's degree in Geography.
