Willamalane Park and Recreation District
Dr. Kristen Wright currently serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Supervisor at Willamalane Park and Recreation District, overseeing district-wide DEI programs and training. In addition, Dr. Wright is an Administrative Liaison and Parent/Student Advocate at Wellsprings Friends School, fostering an inclusive environment for students in alternative education. Previously, Dr. Wright directed the Graduate Family Support Program at the University of Oregon, enhancing DEI initiatives, and served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in communication studies, emphasizing equity in teaching. Early career experience includes owning Stretch-n-Grow International, supervising Patron and Events Services at San Diego Theatres, and senior supervising production roles at various Walt Disney Company film projects. Dr. Wright holds a PhD in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Oregon, along with several relevant degrees and certifications in communication and new media.
Willamalane Park and Recreation District
Willamalane Park and Recreation District maintains and operates five recreation facilities and 46 parks and natural areas totaling nearly 1,500 acres. Highlights include Splash! at Lively Park, Camp Putt Adventure Golf Park, 29 miles of hiking and biking trails, and 24 playgrounds. Willamalane offers hundreds of recreation programs to people of all ages and abilities. Created by voters in 1944, Willamalane is a special tax district, separate from the city of Springfield, with its own boundaries.
