Matthew Peterson is an experienced coatings chemist at Willamette Valley Company since June 2010, with a strong background in wood science and technology. Prior roles include serving as a graduate research and teaching assistant at Oregon State University from September 2007 to September 2009, where a master's project focused on a real-time material tracking system for softwood mills. Earlier experience includes working as a laboratory technician at JELD-WEN, inc. Research & Development, conducting material testing on various composites and coatings, and a laboratory intern position at BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research & Testing, where a standardized microscopic procedure for wood decay organism identification was developed. Contributions to Oregon State University as a laboratory assistant included publishing research on juvenile wood in Douglas-fir and assisting in various wood-related research projects. Matthew holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Wood Science from Oregon State University.
