Sam brings more than 13 years of valuation advisory experience to WilliamsMarston. His extensive valuation expertise includes financial reporting matters such as mergers and acquisitions, purchase price allocations, goodwill and intangible asset impairments, complex debt and equity instruments, stock-based compensation, tax reporting matters such as 409a and intellectual property valuations as well as litigation matters, solvency and fairness opinions. His broad industry experience includes healthcare, life sciences, technology and investment management.

Prior to WilliamsMarston, Sam was a Managing Director at Bay Valuation Advisors, LLC (“BVA”) for 13 years. While at BVA, Sam advised numerous clients ranging from early-stage venture backed entities to Fortune 100 companies with their complex valuations for financial, tax reporting and litigation matters. Sam’s work at BVA included advising leading healthcare, life sciences and technology companies on the analysis of equities, intangible assets, and complex securities with regard to mergers and acquisitions, impairment studies, stock-based compensation, and tax planning activities, as well as assisting investment managers with valuing portfolio investments. In addition, Sam has experience with fair market value engagements for regulatory compliance with the Stark law and Anti-Kickback statute.

Sam is a Chartered Financial Analyst® and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with honors.
