Academic Chairman Of Department Of Surgery And Director Of Surgery Residency Program at Willis-Knighton Health System

Gazi B. Zibari, MD, FACS, IHPBA (Hon), FAST, TACC, MAMSE, serves as the President of the AHPBF since August 2024 and has held numerous leadership roles at the Willis-Knighton Health System, including Director of the John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and Director of the Surgery Residency Program since January 2013. Previously, Gazi was President of the ACS-Louisiana Chapter from January 2012 to July 2021 and served as Treasurer of the AHPBA from March 2013 to March 2015. With a distinguished academic career at LSU Health Sciences Center as a Professor and Vice Chairman, Gazi has also led various initiatives in transplant surgery, including a fellowship at Johns Hopkins and serving as President of the American Foundation for Donation and Transplantation. Gazi's educational background includes a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and an extensive array of accolades, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2007 and the ICS-US/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Award in 2011.
