Steve Naven has extensive work experience in finance and leadership roles. Steve began their career at KPMG, where they worked as a Senior Accountant, gaining experience in auditing and advisory services for various clients. Following this, they worked at NatWest Bank as a Business Analyst and later as an Accountant, where they were responsible for solution formulation, testing, and middle office support for exotic options trading.

Steve then joined Flemings Emerging Markets as a BPR Consultant, leading a team in process and system remediation for an emerging market equity derivative business. Steve subsequently worked at Citibank Europe as a Project Lead, overseeing the transition to the EUR currency for the equity warrants business.

Steve's next role was at Optus, where they held multiple positions including Director, Networks Finance, General Manager - Credit Management, and Group Manager - Capital Planning and Evaluation. In these roles, they were responsible for financial control, planning and evaluation, and credit management for Optus. Steve also led the development and maintenance of IT systems for credit management functions.

After their tenure at Optus, Steve became the Chief Financial Officer at Wyong Shire Council, where they successfully led a financial reform initiative resulting in a $56 million financial turnaround. Steve then moved to Central Coast Council as the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the Finance, IM&T, and Transformation functions. Prior to their departure, the council was in a strong financial position.

Currently, Steve is working as the Chief Financial Officer at Willoughby City Council. In this role, they are a member of the Executive Leadership Team, driving the organizational strategy. Steve is responsible for establishing the Finance Strategy and 10-Year Long Term Financial Plan, as well as leading the budgeting and quarterly review cycle.

Throughout their career, Steve Naven has demonstrated strong financial acumen, expertise in strategic planning, and a track record of successfully leading financial turnarounds and driving organizational growth.

Steve Naven completed their Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Accounting from Charles Sturt University between 1990 and 1992. Following that, they pursued the Professional Year at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia from 1995 to 1996.
