Senior Scientist at Willow Biosciences

Vineetha M. Zacharia, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of biosciences. Vineetha M. began their career in 2007 as a Research Technician at the University of Oklahoma, working with Dr. Tyrrell Conway to investigate the differences between filamentous and non-filamentous ppGpp-deficient E. coli using fluorescence microscopy and microarrays. In 2010, they became a Graduate Student at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, working with Dr. Michael U. Shiloh to characterize and identify the role of Mycobacterium tuberculosis protein Cor involved in carbon monoxide resistance. Vineetha M. also worked with Dr. Wade C. Winkler to identify localization of small RNAs involved in Bacillus subtilis sporulation using fluorescence microscopy and construct riboswitches fused to YFP to detect environmental magnesium fluctuations in vitro/in vivo. In 2015, they became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, working with Dr. Matthew Traxler to determine the factors influencing Streptomyces coelicolor natural product biosynthesis and development. Currently, they hold the role of Senior Scientist at Willow Biosciences Inc and Scientist at Zymergen.

Vineetha M. Zacharia, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Microbiology, General from the University of Oklahoma between 2004 and 2008. Vineetha M. then went on to UT Southwestern Medical Center, where they received their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Microbiology in 2015.
