Shawn Sommer

Shawn Sommer serves as the Music Development Director at Willow Creek Community Church since October 2021 and also performs as a musician specializing in bass and guitar. With a long-standing partnership at Maggie Speaks, which began in October 2003, Shawn works as a bassist and event producer. As the owner of Shawn Sommer, Inc. since January 1999, Shawn's expertise includes live and session bass playing, music arranging, transcription, and teaching. Prior experience includes serving as Music Director and musician at Christ Church from December 2019 to October 2021, and a bassist role at Willow Creek Community Church from 2002 to April 2018. Additional experience includes working as a Chicago Trainer/Merchandiser for Yamaha from 2004 to 2007. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Music degree in String Bass Performance from Western Michigan University, attended DePaul University, and has an extensive background in music performance and development.
