David Cavanaugh

David Cavanaugh is a highly experienced legal professional specializing in intellectual property law. Currently serving as a Partner and Chair of the Post Grant Proceedings Practice Group at WilmerHale since 2001, David also holds a role as Agronomist at San Sanino LLC, beginning in May 2015, and teaches as an Adjunct Professor at American University Washington College of Law since January 2013, where David developed one of the first specialized courses on Post Grant Proceedings following the America Invents Act of 2011. Previously, David held positions as Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at Boston Scientific, Associate at Wolf Greenfield, and Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. David's educational background includes a Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School and a Licentiate degree in Canon Law from The Catholic University of America, among other degrees in Theology and Mechanical Engineering.
