Ashley Berns-Chafetz

Religious School Principal, Glazer Campus at Wilshire Blvd Temple

Ashley Berns-Chafetz has a diverse work experience in the field of religious education and leadership. Ashley served as the Religious School Principal at Wilshire Boulevard Temple's Glazer Campus since April 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Rabbi for Bereishit: Creating Jewish Marriages from the Beginning. Ashley also served as a Rabbi/Assistant Director at the USC Hillel Foundation and as a Camp Rabbi at Camp Bob Waldorf on the Max Straus Campus. Additionally, Ashley worked as a Rabbi for the Santa Ynez Valley Jewish Community and Temple Isaiah, where they also served as a Rabbinic Intern. Ashley has also gained experience as a Rabbinic and Education Intern at Wilshire Boulevard Temple and as a Student Rabbi at Temple Beth Torah. Ashley has a comprehensive background in Jewish education and leadership roles.

Ashley Berns-Chafetz earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion ad Disease Prevention with a minor in Judaic Studies from the University of Southern California in 2009. Ashley then attended Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion, where they received a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from 2010 to 2013. In 2013, they also completed a Master of Arts in Jewish Education from the same institution. Finally, in 2016, they obtained Rabbinical Ordination from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion.
