Ron Crean FICS

Ron Crean FICS has extensive work experience in various leadership roles within the maritime, trade, and energy industries.

Ron currently serves as the Vice President - Business Development & Growth at Windward, where they are responsible for leading global energy business and collaborating with IOCs/NOCs on their digitalization strategies. Ron also oversees horizon 2 innovation efforts in new markets.

Prior to their current role, Crean worked as the Vice President - Commercial at Windward, where they led enterprise-wide projects such as an AI-driven sanctions compliance service. Ron also held the position of Vice President - Trade Business at Windward, a global leader in maritime risk analytics.

Before joining Windward, Crean was the Managing Director at Iotra Seas Ltd and a Strategy Consultant at Iotra Seas. Ron gained experience in marketing as the Group Head of Marketing at Associated British Ports, a major ports to property group.

Crean also had a significant tenure at IHS Markit, where they held several roles including Vice President - Global Trade, Senior Director - Strategy & Business Development, Commercial Director, and Director of Strategic Marketing. Ron led teams focused on data product management, economic forecasting, and global business development. Notably, they played a key role in executing US acquisitions and leading the integration of the Global Trade Information Service (GTIS) acquisition.

Earlier in their career, Crean served as a Project Leader/Consultant at ICIS and as the Commercial Vice President at Energy Intelligence.

Crean's expertise in business development is evident from their role as the Director of Business Development at IHS Markit (Lloyds Register Fairplay), where they successfully led the growth of AISLive.com. Ron played a crucial role in its startup and achieved a significant valuation before its acquisition by Lloyds Register Fairplay.

Ron Crean FICS has a diverse educational background. In 1981, they completed their Leaving Certificate at O'Connells School in Dublin, Ireland. In 1991, they went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in BSc.(Hons) Maritime Business & Marine Law from the University of Plymouth. From 1994 to 1996, they pursued Professional Qualifying Examinations at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. In 1998, Ron completed their Executive MBA at Bayes Business School. Ron then joined Henley Business School, where from 2014 to 2016, they earned a Master's Degree in MSc Business & Management Research (MSc BMRes) in Strategy. During the same period, they also pursued a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Henley Business School. Lastly, in 2018, Ron completed the Blockchain Strategy Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Additionally, they obtained a certification in the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Programme from The University of Oxford Saïd Business School in November 2018.
