Dominik Schneiter has extensive work experience in the maritime industry, with a focus on engine technologies. Dominik has held various roles in different companies, starting with Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. where they served as the Vice President R&D. Prior to that, they worked as the General Manager Product Management at both Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. and Wärtsilä.
At Wärtsilä, they held the position of General Manager Product Management, where they had full lifecycle ownership of assigned products and was responsible for portfolio maintenance and strategic positioning. Dominik also guided and influenced supporting teams in Europe and the Far East. Additionally, they served as the General Manager 2-stroke Engine Technologies, where they provided guidance to five different competency segments and successfully coached teams through a restructuring process.
Before joining Wärtsilä, Dominik worked at Qingdao Qiyao Wartsila MHI Linshan Marine Diesel Co., Ltd., where they held the role of Deputy General Manager Production. Dominik was responsible for handling the customer interface of the production department and oversaw continuous process adaptation and improvement. Prior to that, they served as the Manager Ancillaries and Commissioning at the same company, where they designed and built new test facilities for maritime 2-stroke slow speed engines and established commissioning and testing processes for engine deliveries.
Dominik's work experience also includes positions at Wartsila and Wartsila-NSD. At Wartsila, they worked as the Team Leader Measurement & Instrumentation, leading the development and implementation of new measurement and instrumentation processes on slow speed 2-stroke engines. Dominik also built an expert team for worldwide project management in engine testing. Additionally, they held the position of Testing Manager, where they coordinated and executed validation tests on slow speed 2-stroke engines and led a team of experts and staff. Dominik started their career as a Special Task Manager, Technical Services at Wartsila.
Dominik's early experience includes working as a Commissioning Engineer at Wartsila-NSD and as a Service Engineer at New Sulzer Diesel. As a service engineer, they were responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Sulzer high and medium-speed marine 4-stroke diesel engines, as well as maintenance work on Sulzer 2-stroke slow speed engines.
Overall, Dominik Schneiter has a diverse background in engine technology, product management, production, and commissioning, making him a valuable asset in the maritime industry.
Dominik Schneiter began their educational journey by attending Vocational College GIB Bern from 1988 to 1992. During this time, they pursued studies in mechanics with a focus on diesel engines and agricultural machinery.
Following their vocational education, Schneiter went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Mechatronics from Höhere Fachschule Dietikon, where they studied from 1999 to 2002.
In order to further enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of business and management, Schneiter pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Management and Affairs from Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences Switzerland, completing the program between 2012 and 2014.
To supplement their formal education, Schneiter obtained several additional certifications. In 2005, they became a registered European Industrial Engineer (EurEta) through the European Higher Engineering and Technical Professionals Association. In 2006, they completed the Technical Leadership program at SwissMEM Kaderschule. Lastly, in 2007, they obtained the European Industrial Engineer EiE certification from SwissMTM.
