Wings Special Needs Community
Wings exists to enhance the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through social, vocational and residential programs guided by principles of the Bible. In 2002, several families had a like-minded challenge regarding the limited opportunities that lie ahead after high school for their child with developmental disabilities. The long-term concern was who will care for our adult child when we pass away? A 5019c)(3) was formed and in 2020 Wings served 67 Members, aged 19-63. Our program of services includes a Day Program, which empowers Members to choose their own high-interest volunteer jobs and transitional living classes. Wings has a monthly Social Club serving 104 Members who come together from 5 different counties to enjoy weekend dances and social activities. We have purchased 74 acres of land in Oklahoma City and are working towards operational expansion, including the development of a private residential community where Members can live independently for the rest of their lives.
