George Birchenough

George Birchenough is a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Wingtra, starting in 2022. From 2020 to 2021, they were a Doctoral Researcher at ETH Zürich, where they were involved in engineering design optimization, AI based optimization and 4D printing. In 2020, they were also a Python Developer at 4 Earth Intelligence, where they built and implemented deep learning frameworks for object detection in overhead imagery. In 2019, they were a Founding Engineer at Haptec LTD. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Lead Engineer at MAKO Boardsports - Gilo Industries Group, where they planned and organised the workload of the design department and managed the development and successful release of a petrol-powered surfboard. From 2016 to 2017, they were a Research Engineer at Gilo Industries Group, where they were a technical consultant for projects from various subsidiaries of the Gilo Industries Group, conducting feasibility studies using computational physics models.
