Karen Elyea

Karen Elyea serves as the Executive Assistant to Winnebago County Board Chairman Joseph V. Chiarelli since January 2021. In addition to this role, Karen has been the President of Minglewood Boutique, an eco-fashion boutique specializing in sustainable women's clothing, since June 1999. Karen's previous public service includes serving as Alderman for the 11th Ward in the City of Rockford from May 2009 to April 2017 and as a member of the Winnebago County Board from November 2006 to May 2009. Karen also worked as the Marketing & Special Event Manager at Blackhawk Farms Raceway from November 1998 to August 2002. Educational credentials include studies in Geography and Meteorology at Northern Illinois University and an Associate of Science degree from Rock Valley College, following completion of high school at Belvidere High School.
