WINS (Women In Need Society)
Founded in 1992, Women In Need Society (WINS) is a charitable non-profit organization in Calgary focused on supporting vulnerable women and their families. We are an environmentally conscious organization dedicated to repurposing, recycling and upcycling gently used clothing and household items for a greater cause. Along with six WINS thrift store locations in Calgary, we also own Twice New, an online thrifting option and the More Store, a bulk thrift store. All proceeds from these stores go directly to funding programs to support vulnerable Calgarians. We offer a number of programs to support our clients including Retail Ready, a six-week employment preparation program aimed at helping Calgarians who are in need of employment develop the necessary skills to be successful in the workplace. Similarly, we also offer Warehouse Ready, aimed at helping Calgarians obtain employment in a warehouse setting. We take a step-by-step approach with our low-income clients to help them get ahead after leaving a violent situation, homeless shelter or upon moving to Canada. WINS also operates four Community Resource Hubs, which provide families with barrier-free access to essential programs, services and resources that improve and support their well being.
