Juan Azel

Juan Azel currently serves as a Partner and Chair of the FinTech, Banking and Payments Group at Winston & Strawn LLP, a position held since October 2022. Prior to this role, Juan Azel was the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Cross River from July 2019 to October 2022. Juan Azel has extensive legal experience, having held positions such as Counsel at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP and Senior Legal Regulatory Counsel at Standard Chartered Bank, where Juan Azel also served as Head of Legal for the Private Bank in the Americas. Additional legal expertise includes serving as General Counsel for the Private Bank (Americas) at BBVA and as a Senior Associate at Hunton & Williams LLP. Juan Azel began his career as an Associate at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, and K&L Gates. Juan Azel earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Florida International University.
