Rebecca Burkel

Rebecca Burkel has extensive experience in the field of transportation and environmental management, currently serving as the Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) Administrator at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation since September 1993, overseeing over 1,360 employees and managing over $1.2 billion in construction projects annually. Previous roles include Deputy Administrator for Regions and Bureaus, where Rebecca managed planning, design, construction, and maintenance across the state, and Director of Technical Services, providing oversight for various technical areas. Rebecca's earlier experience includes environmental consultancy at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and a technical role at Fort Howard Corporation. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, both from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
