Jerry O'Brien has extensive experience in the retail sector, currently serving as an Emeritus Board Member of the National Retail Federation Foundation and as an Emeritus Director of the Center for Retailing at the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since July 2023. O'Brien is the founder of The O'Brien Group, LLC, established in 2008, and has been an instructor at the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional & Executive Development since July 2011. Previously, O'Brien held the position of Director at the Kohl's Center for Retailing until January 2024, overseeing initiatives that connect students with industry representatives. Other notable roles include board memberships with the World Alliance for Retail Excellence and Standards and involvement with the National Retail Federation from 2008 to 2013. O'Brien’s career in retail began at Target Stores, where O'Brien was engaged in store operations and recruitment from 1979 to 2006. O'Brien's educational background includes degrees in Retailing and Consumer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
