Barry Soo

Barry S. has extensive work experience in talent acquisition and recruitment. Barry most recently worked at Wiseasy as a Talent Acquisition Manager & HRBP, responsible for recruiting and overseeing talent acquisition for the APAC, EMEA, and LATAM/NORAM regions. Prior to that, they worked at Shopify as a Regional Recruiter, focusing on tech, product, and commercial roles in the JAPAC region. Barry also had a stint at Grab, where they served as a Regional SEA Talent Acquisition Business Partner, specializing in recruiting tech and product talents in Singapore and Malaysia. Additionally, Barry worked at Visa as a Regional Campus Recruiter for JAPAC, designing and executing recruiting strategies to attract top university talent. Barry was also a Talent Acquisition Executive at dentsu international, specializing in non-tech and tech roles. Barry has experience as a Technical Recruiter at Selby Jennings, where they focused on IT, Data Science, and Analytics roles in the Asia Pacific region. Barry also worked as a Recruitment Consultant at Phaidon International, specializing in finance recruitment. Prior to their recruitment roles, Barry worked as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at the University at Buffalo.

Barry S. has a diverse education history with a focus on business, data science, psychology, communication, human resources, and engineering.

Barry started their education journey in 2009 at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where they obtained a Diploma in Aerospace Electronics and also completed a Diploma Plus in Economics and Financial Applications. Their studies included avionics, economics, and finance.

In 2014, Barry pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science (Aerospace Systems) at the University of Glasgow, completing it in 2015.

Continuing their education, they attended the University at Buffalo from 2015 to 2017, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Communication.

Barry then returned to Singapore and enrolled in Nanyang Polytechnic in 2020, where they completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management and Talent Management.

Additionally, in the same year, they studied at Singapore Polytechnic and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Future Skills in HR, focusing on Human Resources Development.

In 2020, Barry pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Singapore Management University, specializing in Human Capital Leadership. Barry completed this program in 2021.

To further expand their skills, they attended the National University of Singapore in 2022 and completed a course titled "Practical Decision Making Using Data Science" focused on Data Science.

As of February 2023, Barry has obtained a certification in "Practical Decision Making Using Data Science" from the National University of Singapore.
