Lena Richards

Lena Richards is the Marketing Director at Withers & Ravenel. Lena has over fifteen years of experience in the publishing industry, including positions as a copy editor, design editor, and project manager.

Lena began their career as an intern copy editor at the Hendersonville Times-News in May of 2002. Lena was quickly promoted to Editor-in-Chief of The Blue Banner, UNC Asheville's student-run newspaper, where they oversaw a staff of over thirty students and managed the paper's budget.

In December of 2002, Lena was hired by the Asheville Citizen-Times Media Group as a copy editor. In this role, they were responsible for reviewing and editing local reporters' content, as well as Associated Press content. Lena also managed page layout and design, headlines, photo selection, and page layout review. In 2005, they were promoted to Design Editor, where they were in charge of maintaining the look and feel of the overall news layout with the appropriate section editors for the News, Mountains (local), Sports and Living sections, as well as special sections and weekly inserts. During their time at the Asheville Citizen-Times, Lena also developed info-graphics and redesigned the overall newspaper and take5 sections.

In 2007, Lena left the Asheville Citizen-Times to join Martin-McGill, Inc., now WithersRavenel, as a Project Manager. In this role, they manage all aspects of projects from start to finish, including scope

Lena Richards completed their undergraduate degree in mass communication with a focus in journalism and videography from the University of North Carolina Asheville. Lena then attended AC Reynolds High School. After completing their high school education, Lena Richards obtained certification from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in NC Public Notary.

Their manager is Jim Canfield, President & CEO. Some of their coworkers include Chan Bryant - SVP, Operations, Jonathan Nichols - SUE Group Director, and Ty Colwell - Business Development Director.
