Lukas Kahwe Smith has a long and varied work experience, beginning in 2000 when they founded BackendMedia GbR. In 2002, they became a Developer for PEAR, taking on key positions in the community and organizing several conferences. In 2005, they became a Developer for PHP, taking on the role of Release Manager for version 5.3. In 2006, they joined Optaros as a Senior Consultant and in 2008, they joined Liip AG as a Developer and Partner. In 2009, they were the \"CTO\" for Resolutionfinder.org. From 2010 to 2019, they worked as a Developer for Symfony, working on the core and various Bundles in the Liip and FriendsOfSymfony namespace. Lukas Kahwe also led the CMF effort around integration of PHPCR. Since 2019, they have been the CTO & Co-Founder of Witty Works | Enabling Diversity With Words, and since 2022, they have been a Community Member for 2hearts.

Lukas Kahwe Smith began their educational journey in 1997 when they studied Economics at Freie Universität Berlin. In 1998, they moved to New College to continue their studies in Economics. In 1999, they began studying Computer Science at Technische Universität Berlin, where they earned a Diplom in 2006.
