Laura Hohman

Laura Hohman has a diverse work experience in various roles within the animation and visual effects industry. Laura began their career as an intern at Zoic Studios, where they learned from experienced artists and assisted in events. Laura then worked as a post-production intern at Fischer Edit, where they created 2D assets and logo graphics for web series using software like Photoshop and After Effects.

Laura later joined Nightwheel Productions as a shader artist on the multi-award-winning short film "La Noria." Laura was responsible for unwrapping props and sets, creating maps, and collaborating with the CG supervisor and director to achieve the desired style.

At Nickelodeon Animation Studios, Laura worked as a texture artist on the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series. Laura also contributed to Nickelodeon's Artist Program, creating programming, goals, and checkpoints for the CG generalist track.

Laura then moved to DreamWorks Animation, where they served as a TV HUB surfacer point for the "DinoTrux" series. Laura worked on texture and surfacing tasks to bring the characters and environments to life.

Laura later worked at Wizards of the Coast as a creative manager for Magic: The Gathering, Universes Beyond. In this role, they led a team of narrative game designers and art directors, managing their workloads and fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence. Laura also spearheaded the execution of creative card content for the Universes Beyond line.

In addition to their professional experience, Laura also volunteered at organizations like LA ACM SIGGRAPH, where they served as the vice-chair and contributed to planning program content and venues for meetings.

Throughout their career, Laura has demonstrated a strong skillset in creative management, texture and surfacing, CG supervision, and collaboration with diverse teams.

Laura Hohman obtained a BS degree in Media Arts and Animation from the Art Institutes International Minneapolis, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
