Darryl Macias is an experienced professional with a diverse background in emergency medicine, education, and medical training. Currently serving as the Organizational Camp Leader at Chai Lounge during Burning Man, Darryl has also developed virtual reality training programs for wilderness rescue at The University of New Mexico's Dept of Engineering since 2017. In addition, Darryl holds the position of Medical Director at the UNM International Mountain Medicine Center and Fellowship and has been a Professor at the University of New Mexico since 1994. With roles in editorial positions for the Wilderness Medical Society and as an Educational Coordinator for the PACEMD Program, Darryl combines academic expertise with practical instruction, exemplified by the role as an instructor in Tang Soo Do Karate. Educational qualifications include an Emergency Medicine residency from The University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Loma Linda University. Darryl also contributed as Chairman of ACEP International and as Medical Director for the Albuquerque Mountain Rescue Council.
