Miia Niemelä

Miia Niemelä is an experienced software engineer specializing in machine learning and data engineering, currently serving as Engineering Team Lead for the ML & Streaming Platform at Wolt since May 2022. Prior to this role, Miia worked at Solita from March 2017 to May 2022 as a Machine Learning Engineer, where responsibilities included refactoring ML solutions, roadmap development, and public speaking on MLOps. Miia also served as a Data Engineer, developing data lake and warehousing solutions in AWS. Earlier experience includes a research assistant position at Tampere University of Technology from June 2014 to March 2017 in the Department of Physics, contributing to research in biomembrane systems. Miia holds an M.Sc. in Advanced Engineering Physics from Tampere University of Technology and has completed high school education and an international exchange program in Quebec.
