Maria Giraldo Gallo is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in program management, evaluation, and language access. Currently serving as the Director of Evaluation and Learning at Women Against Abuse, Inc. since October 2023, Maria previously held key positions within the City of Philadelphia, including Director of Language Access Programs and Language Access Program Manager. Maria's background in education includes roles at the School District of Philadelphia, such as Bilingual Counseling Assistant and various positions in accounting and project support. Additionally, Maria has experience as an Executive Assistant and Finance Intern in the private sector. Holding a Master of Science in Nonprofit/NGO Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Finance and International Relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia, Maria is well-equipped in both leadership and financial management.

Women Against Abuse is the leading and largest provider of services to victims of domestic violence in both the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide is quality, compassionate and nonjudgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence and to lead the struggle to end domestic violence through advocacy and community education. With over 100 staff, WAA serves more than 15,000 individuals each year through emergency housing (2- 100 bed shelter), transitional housing (15 apartments and support to various scattered housing sites), legal services, hotline counseling, education/prevention and advocacy.
