Fernando Lugo is an experienced economist with a diverse background in economic analysis and research. Currently serving as an Economist at the U.S. Small Business Administration since July 2024, Fernando previously held the position of Research Economist at the Bureau of Economic Analysis from July 2019 to July 2024. Fernando's extensive career includes leadership roles such as Director of the Economic Analysis Office at the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico and academics focusing on various sectors, including strategic planning and macroeconomic analysis. Fernando's educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut and a J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico, along with advanced degrees in law and economics from prominent institutions.
