Chief Of SBIC Licensing / Investment Officer at U.S. Small Business Administration

Jason Powers, PhD, serves as the Chief of SBIC Licensing and Investment Officer at the U.S. Small Business Administration since June 2020, where regulatory expertise in venture capital and private equity has enhanced the SBIC Program. Concurrently, Jason holds roles as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus and Part-Time Faculty of Finance at Colorado State University Global, while also teaching as a Professor of Finance at Columbia College, recognized for contributions to online education with a 2022 Deans' Adjunct Faculty Award. Previous experience includes a decade as a Federal Agent investigating white-collar crimes and roles as a Financial Analyst and Portfolio Manager at the U.S. Small Business Administration. Jason has a background in law enforcement as a Police Officer in Maryland and military service as a Sergeant of Marines in the United States Marine Corps, with multiple awards and commendations for service. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Business from Capella University, an MBA in Finance from Strayer University, and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Phoenix.
