Joel Copperman

Interim CEO at Women's Prison Association

Joel Copperman has an extensive work history, starting in 1982 with various roles within the City of New York, including Ass't Legislative Representative, Deputy Director of the Office of Operations, and Director of the Office of Contracts. From 1988 to 1990, they worked as the Director of the Office of Contracts in the Mayor's Office of the City of New York. In 1990, they joined CASES (Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services) as the CEO/President, a position they held until September 2022. Most recently, in August 2023, they became the Interim CEO of the Women's Prison Association.

Joel Copperman pursued their education at Boston University School of Law from 1969 to 1972, where they earned a Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Later, from 1980 to 1982, they attended Harvard Kennedy School, obtaining a Master's degree in City and Regional Planning (MCRP). No specific field of study was mentioned for either degree earned.
