Derek John

Derek John is an accomplished audio producer and editor with extensive experience in narrative podcasting. Currently serving as a Senior Producer and Story Editor at Wondery since March 2025, Derek previously held key roles at Slate Magazine, overseeing multiple narrative podcasts such as Slow Burn and Hit Parade, and worked as an Executive Producer and Senior Producer at various notable organizations including NPR, PRX, ESPN, and WNYC Radio. Derek has a strong academic background with a Master’s degree in Cultural Reporting and Criticism from New York University and a Bachelor's degree in History and Humanities from The University of Kansas.
